Adriana “Be Yourself” Amateur Women’s Basketball Weekend Tournament

Weekend of September 2–3, 2017.

18 amateur women’s basketball teams coming from all around the country gathered together at Sha Li Sports to participate in a big basketball party in Shanghai.

Although the intensive arrangement of the weekend tournament was a big challenge for the organizing committee, it definitely did not stop us from cheering for the amazing games at the tournament. The ladies did their very best and played so many breath taking games for the spectators. We still felt the excitement of the tournament even after it ended. We were moved and inspired deeply by the games.

1RMB registration fee

Whether it was the spring league or this weekend tournament, Adriana continues to implement the registration fee of only 1RMB. No doubt it is the most direct way to support and encourage all amateur female ballers to play basketball. It shows our original intention and purpose of organizing this platform for our patrons. In the near future, we believe amateur women’s basketball will gain the same level of attention and resources like our male counterparts.

Encourage amateur women’s basketball players across the country to sign up.

More than half of the teams participating in this tournament came from outside Shanghai, from Xiamen in the south to Jinan in the north.
In order to encourage teams coming from out of Shanghai to take part, we decided to provide a travel allowance to the teams coming from out of Shanghai. We try our best to bring women’s basketball players across the nation together to play and learn from one another. We would like to develop and spread Adrian’s basketball culture for amateur women’s basketball players to many different areas of the country. In addition, we hope to re-inspire these amateur women’s basketball teams to continue playing and for persevering in basketball for so many years by offering positive energy to them. Finally we hope to spread such a positive energy nationwide through this platform.

Tailor-made Tournament Schedule

18 teams, 38 games, and setting a different set of rules to adjust to the tournament

This tailor-made tournament schedule was designed this specific way to ensure every participating team gets to play at least 3 games. We hope to encourage the less experienced teams to learn and improve from the games, and provide an opportunity for them to prepare themselves for the next event. On the other hand, we still maintained the quality of the games of the tournament for its competitiveness and fun. This can be seen from the amazing games by the top 4 teams at the tournament.

The 3 Points Shootout and Skills Challenge

Even though the overall level of the team is not competitive enough, participating players can still show themselves through these two competitions. It encourages every player to practice the fundamental skills of the sport, and creates a fun atmosphere for all.

Big Basketball Party

The grand opening ceremony, the award ceremony full of surprises, the professional crew of videographers, organizing interviews of team representatives, and many other components of the tournament showed the Adriana’s sincerity to all parties involved.

First crew of team attaches was formed

18 team, 18 team attaches. They take on the role as the team manager. They not only have to be familiar with various aspects of the tournament, but also provide support to their respective teams. They act as a guide to the teams and ensure their teams had as much takeaways as possible from the tournament. What’s more, they act as the ambassadors of the weekend tournament.

It is necessary to arrange such a role in our future events. On the other hand, it reminded us to improve the quality of the training to the team attaches.

At this tournament, there are players of different age groups, with some in their teenage years, some in their twenties, some in their thirties and some in their forties. With the increase of age, our physical condition is no doubt gradually becoming the biggest obstacle for every basketball player. We believe that by learning more about how to warm up before the games, relax after the games, is one of the most important parts of playing basketball. Through this tournament, we would like to let every player get familiar and understand the importance of this habit. We also hope to strengthen the awareness of every player and extend the time to play basketball. These are the most important things for Adriana.

Fun

The activities interacting with readers on the WeChat official account, the fun corners, the photoshoot, etc; we believe these various aspects of the tournament is one of the keys to achieve success of any event. The designing of these activities brought us closer, and showed the fun side of the participants. Such a relaxing, enjoyable and friendly atmosphere is what Adriana is committed to create for all of you in our events.

Best Sportswomanship and MVP Award

The set up of the best sportswomanship award needs to be improved the next time, but the setting of this award is not just an inspiration to those who contribute to their teams and have a positive influence in the team; but also to encourage them to keep playing the sport.

MVP, no doubt is the focus of the whole court, and is the best performer of the games. The appearance of an MVP in the amateur women’s basketball platform is definitely a role model for amateur women’s basketball enthusiasts.

We witnessed the happiness and excitement it brought to all participants. In addition, not only the participants but also all parties involved in the tournament have shared their feelings to remember and reflect this tournament from their own perspectives.
